Iranian monarchists protest in Berlin against the regime in Iran

Around 200 people take part in a demonstration on Berlin's western shopping mile, the Kurfürstendamm.

The participants are chanting and carrying signs demanding an end to the Mullah regime in Tehran. They criticize the persecution of political dissidents and the brutal suppression of recent protests in several Iranian cities. They also call on the regime to lift the blockade of the Internet in the Islamic Republic.

Rainbow flags can also be seen at the demonstration.

The background is the protests of the last days and weeks in Iran, which were sparked by a tripling of the price of gasoline. The reasons, however, lie deeper in massive economic problems, an impoverishment of the population and an alienation of many Iranians from their leadership.

The regime in Tehran is reacting to the protests with severity. According to reports, a three-figure number of people have been killed and thousands have been arrested.

Memorial in Berlin Moabit on the anniversary of the November progrome

Several hundred people, mainly from the left spectrum, took part in a memorial rally on 09.11.2019 followed by a demonstration.

The place of the rally was the memorial at the former synagogue in the Levetzowstraße in Berlin Moabit. From there a demonstration started to the Westhafen S-Bahn station, where 71 years ago Jews were deported to concentration camps.

At the memorial in Levetzostraße, people laid roses and lit candles. The same applies to the memorial for the deportations at the Westhafen S-Bahn station. In the past, this was repeatedly damaged by anti-Semitic smearing.

Kurds demonstrate in Berlin against Turkish invasion of Rojava, Syria

Around 3,000 people, mainly Kurds and members of left-wing groups, demonstrated in Berlin against the invasion of Turkish troops into the Rojava region in north-eastern Syria.

In the meantime, the demonstration was stopped after a YPG flag was held over a block of left-wing groups. After this flag was removed, the demonstration continued. Now and then smoke candles were used by the demonstration. There were no further incidents.

The self-governing region is defended by the Kurdish self-defense units YPG and YPJ. Hundreds of people are said to have lost their lives in the fighting in the last few days. Over 100,000 people are on the run.

Both Turkey and the former allies of the YPG/YPJ were criticized in speeches.

Turkey sees the YPG/YPJ as an offshoot of the Kurdish Workers' Party PKK and therefore classifies them as terrorists. However, the Kurdish units have been the closest ally of the West in recent years, especially of the USA in the fight against Daesh (IS). By the decision of US President Donald Trump to withdraw his own troops from the Kurdish territories, he opened up the possibility of Turkey's invasion.
