Syrians rally against the regime of Bashar al-Assad and its allies

Supporters of the Syrian opposition, among them many refugees but also Germans, held a rally at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to protest against a pro regime rally which took place at the same time. The opposition activists demand an end of the regime of Bashar al-Assad and condemned the recent chemical attack on civilians in Ghouta.

About 13,000 attended a march through Berlin's inner City to protest against rising rents and gentrification. they urged the polititians to act and stated that housing shouldn't be a ware intended to make the highest possible profits.

Easter march for peace and a pro Russian policy in Berlin

About 1,000 people attended the traditional Easter march for peace in Berlin. This year the march took place in Berlin's district Moabit. Among the participants were members of the Left Party (Die Linke),  supporters of Russia's president Vladimir Putin and Syria's dictator Bashar al-Assad. Also there were supporters of the North Korean regime. Far right activists joined the march. Anti-semitic symbols were used on signs. This year's speeches and signs again condemned the USA, the German Federal government and NATO but again remain absolutely in silence over the war crimes of Syrian Bashar al-Assad or the occupation of the Crimea by Russia and the engagement of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine. Among the speakers were MP Diether Dehm (Left Party) and theologian Eugen Drewermann, a peace activist for decades.

Ecumenical Good Friday procession in Berlin

The annual ecumenical Good Friday procession in Berlin was attended by about 250 Christians. Among them were bishop Markus Dröge and archbishop Heiner Koch. The procession was lead by a 3m high cross which was carried by participants. At seven steps in the the center of Berlin speakers reminded the fate of people who were persecuted because of their faith.

Hundreds Kurds march in Berlin at World Afrin Day

About 500 attended a march by Kurds and left wing groups at the World Afrin Day. The participants solidarizied with the fight of Syrian YPG and YPJ against Turkish forces and its allies. Days after Turkey could conquer the strategic important city of Afrin (Efrin) in northern Syria the activists feared a mass murder on the Kurdish citizens of the region.
