Sealift (Seebrücke) activists protest in Berlin for sea rescue of refugees

Activists of the organization Sealift (Seebrücke) held a sit-in on the street in front of Berlin’s famous Mauerpark to protest for sea rescue and against a fortress Europe. Based on the American black movement’s slogan “Say their names” they shouted the names of in the Mediterranean Sea drowned refugees.

Some thousands attended a demonstration in Berlin's inner city against the restrictive asylum policy forced by Germany's Minister for Internal Affairs Horst Seehofer (CSU). The activists showed their solidarity with "Mission Lifeline", "Sea Watch" and other organizations whichs rescue refugees from drowning in the Mediterranean Sea. They condemned the Eurpoean Union for betraying its humanitarian values.

Activists held a rally at Berlin's Potsdamer Platz to support NGOs like Sea-Watch and Mission Lifeline which rescued thousands of refugees from drowning during their passage over the Mediterrean Sea. Now the NGOs are facing trials and repression by Italy, Malta and the European Union. The participants condemned the criminalization of distress rescue and demanded to implement save passages for refugees.

The rally was part of the so called "Day Orange" inspired by the colour of the life vests used by the refugees. Actions took place all over Germany organized by Sealift (Seebrücke).

Up to 12,000 attended a demonstration in Berlin's inner city to march against the restrictive asylum policy forced by Germany's Minister for Internal Affairs Horst Seehofer (CSU).
