Several thousand people took part in a demonstration under the motto "Properly cap, then expropriate." participate. Various alliances and tenant initiatives had called for this.
One of the core demands of the protesters was the introduction of a drastic rent cover, as planned by Berlin's Senator for Building, Lompscher (Die Linke). Berlin's governing mayor Michael Müller and his SPD were criticized in signs, speeches and chants for attempting to dilute the rent cover.

Further demands of the demonstration included the expropriation of large housing companies such as "Deutsche Wohnen", "Vonovia" and others. They were criticized for their greed for rising yields at the expense of tenants.
