Berlin: For self-determination of people in need of care and against IPReG
Several dozen people, including many ventilated patients, gathered in Berlin to protest against the Intensive Care and Rehabilitation Strengthening Act (IPReG) passed by the governing coalition.
Those affected accused Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) of wanting to force back nursing staff working in this field into hospitals and homes. This would be to the detriment in particular of patients requiring artificial respiration, who would lose a large part of their self-determined lives if they were forced to live in a home.
In the meantime, politicians from Bündnis90/Die Grünen, the Left Party and the F.D.P. have also spoken out against corresponding regulations in the draft law. On the part of the SPD, there are appeasements and consolations.
During the rally, more than 200,000 signatures against the draft law, which were collected on the change.org platform under the motto "No home obligation for people in need of care", were handed over to members of the Bundestag.
Affected persons in need of care pointed out their precarious situation in speeches.
