Thousands at Seebrücke protest in Berlin for open borders
Several thousand people took part in a demonstration in Berlin called by the Seebrücke alliance.
The participants demanded open borders and safe escape routes for refugees. They criticized the policy of sealing off the European Union, as well as massive attacks on refugees in Greece by right-wing radicals and the police.
The background is the recent opening of the border in Turkey and the policy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogans to bring refugees from Turkey to the border with Greece by bus.
There, people are stranded in no man's land after Greece has refused them entry to the EU using force. At the same time, there have been massive attacks by right-wing extremists on fugitives, NGOs and journalists, which the Greek police have not stopped.
